Winners of the 2024 Insurance Asset Risk awards

29 February 2024

This year's Insurance Asset Risk Awards is a four-horse race; with AllianceBernstein (AB), M&G, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and Royal London Asset Management, snatching two awards each.

Aviva Investors was once more recognised for its approach to sustainability but this year in the social investing initiative category, while Ortec Finance retained its portfolio climate risk solution of the year award and Swiss Life AM also retained its real asset manager of the year award.

This year's awards see three new winners emerging, Zurich for Responsible investor of the Year, Nuveen for Climate mitigation investment initiative of the Year and Insight Investment for Fixed income manager of the Year.

As for the CIO of the year award, an editorial choice this year, it went to Aviva UK's Ashish Dafria. Speaking to Insurance Asset Risk upon winning the award, Dafria acknowledged that 2023 "had its share of volatility, with worries about economic cycles, geopolitical crises and increasing sovereign debt balance sheets at a time of higher interest rates". But, for someone who has "witnessed from close quarters September 11, Lehman's bankruptcy, and more recently the UK mini-budget market volatility", it puts 2023 into context, he added.

The whole of Insurance Asset Risk's team would like to thank the industry for its support, and the judges for their time and expertise.
