Zurich, a founding member to the Impact Investment Principles and the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance, has been named 2026's Insurance Asset Risk responsible investor of the year (in the re/insurer category), for its multiple impact, ESG and engagement initiatives.

The insurer has met its 2025 financed emission targets and has defined a 2030 emission reduction target to reduce the emission intensity of its listed equity portfolio and corporate bonds by 55% and of its real estate portfolio by 45% from a 2019 baseline.

On engagement, in 2024, Zurich met its 2025 bilateral engagement targets of engaging with companies producing 65% of portfolio emissions and lacking targets aligned with the Paris agreement.

In 2025, Zurich placed emphasis on engaging with its private debt asset managers, expressing its expectations on emission data reporting and managers aligning their investments with a net-zero pathway.

In 2025, Zurich, together with public and private institutions, launched SCALED – Scaling Capital for Sustainable which aims to advance on Blended Finance.
