Aviva Investors' Climate Stewardship 2030 (CS30) programme wins the manager the 2026 Stewardship initiative of the year award, due to its focus not only on decarbonisation pathways but on whether companies are strategically positioned to remain resilient and competitive in plausible low-carbon futures, including governance, capital discipline and policy alignment.
CS30 was designed to address the gap between companies' climate commitments and their policy, infrastructure, skills and market environments, by explicitly linking corporate engagement, value-chain mobilisation and policy advocacy to support credible transition delivery.
The programme works on a dual-track model: direct corporate engagement alongside value-chain engagement, ensuring that transition credibility is assessed not in isolation, but within the broader systems in which companies operate.
CS30 focuses on carrying out regular and ongoing engagement with companies representing at least 50% of Aviva Investors' financed emissions in material sectors, prioritising areas of greatest long-term transition risk.
