AllianzGI appoints CIO for systematic equity

Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has appointed Michael Heldmann as chief investment officer (CIO) for systematic equity, taking over from co-CIOs Benedikt Henne and Klaus Teloeken who will retire over the course of 2022.

Heldmann has been part of the systematic equity team for 14 years, most recently as CIO Best Styles US, and will report to Virginie Maisonneuve, global CIO for equity and former CIO of Eastpring.

In his new role, he will continue to manage portfolios, but will relinquish the management of the US focused strategies to Rohit Ramesh, who currently acts as deputy portfolio manager, over the course of July 2021.
