Hiscox updates ESG exclusions policy

Hiscox has published amendments to its environmental, social and governance exclusions policy for underwriting and investments, including an exit from coal, Arctic energy exploration, oil sands and controversial weapons, which will take effect from 1 January 2022.

“Ultimately our ambition is to phase out re/insurance of [these assets] by 2030, in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals,” the Bermuda headquartered insurer said in a statement.
