ABI names next chairman

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has named Paul Evans, group chief executive of Axa UK, as its next chairman.

He will take over from Prudential's Tidjane Thiam, whose two-year term as chairman of the board will end on 3 July.

Evans has been in his current role since October 2012, previous serving as chief executive of Axa Life. During the 2000s he participated in the ABI committee on long-term savings and life insurance, and later chaired the general insurance committee.
