Arch Capital hires Meredith Whitney

Bermuda-based insurer Arch Capital Group has hired Meredith Whitney to oversee an $800m equity portfolio, according Preston Hutchings, Arch's chief investment officer, in an interview with Bloomberg.

The portfolio has allocations to about eight managers, including JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock, Hutchings said.

The firm had more than $15bn of investments at the end of September.

Whitney previously ran her own hedge fund and before that was a high-profile banking analyst.
