Aviva Investors part of infrastructure initiative

Aviva Investors is part of a group of investors representing $1.5trn of assets which has teamed up with the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) to launch a similar framework for infrastructure assets.

The group also includes pension funds such as CalPERS, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, APG and ATP.

"This is an idea whose time has come," said Euan Munro, CEO of Aviva Investors. "For the first time, asset managers will have the data to evaluate whether infrastructure assets are – or are not – sustainable, and can make investment decisions accordingly. It should mean more capital flowing into more sustainable infrastructure – and reliable long-term returns for investors."

The infrastructure benchmark aims to provide a consistent framework for investors to collect and compare key environmental, social and governance measures across their infrastructure assets.

Aviva Investors is the global asset management business of UK-headquartered insurance group Aviva
