Brexit and investment challenges will dominate IAR conference

Brexit is only one of the many issues facing insurance asset managers but it's one of the most topical, with the UK referendum on British membership of the European Union due on 23 June.

Asset managers from insurance companies all over Europe will gather in London next Monday, 13 June, to debate the likely impact of the vote on the markets, as well as persistent issues such as low returns, volatility, heightened regulation and increased competition.

As the first Insurance Asset Risk conference since the introduction of Solvency II, the event will also devote discussion time to how to optimise the balance sheet under the new EU framework and how to structure a matching adjustment portfolio.

Other issues to be considered are liquidity, absolute return funds, outsourcing vs in-house management of funds, and analytics and data for asset management.

Among the insurers presenting are: Aspen, Aviva, Generali, Legal & General, LocalTapiola, LV=, Partnership Assurance, Pension Insurance Corporation, Phoenix Group, Prudential, RLAM, RSA, Storebrand and Swiss Re.
