Ex-Fidelity fund manager joins Unum board

Unum Group has elected Ronald O'Hanley, former president of asset management and corporate services for Fidelity Investments, to its board of directors.

As a part of his duties, O'Hanley will serve on the US insurer's human capital and risk and finance committees.

At Fidelity, O'Hanley had oversight of all of its asset management organisations, including Fidelity Management & Research Company, Pyramis Global Advisors and the asset allocation teams, with a combined total of $1.9trn in assets under management. He was also a member of Fidelity's executive committee. He left the company in February 2014.

"We are very happy to welcome Ron to our board," said William Ryan, chairman of the board of Unum Group. "He brings significant expertise in financial services, and I am certain his perspective and experience will be a tremendous asset to Unum."
