IAR Investing in Real Assets 2022: Day 2 round up

Insurance Asset Risk's Investing in Real Assets 2022 conference's second and final day looked at opportunities for European and US insurers in the Asian markets, as well as opportunities in real estate and infrastructure.

In the keynote speech, Clarence Wong, chief economist at Peak Re, said that The Asia Pacific region is becoming a diversification hedge against geopolitical tensions in Europe and stagflation risk in the US.

Following Wong’s presentation, insurers at PIC, Foresters Friendly and Oslo Pensjonsforsikring described their investments in real estate. They highlighted the need to have expertise in the sub-sectors of real estate one invests in as a key component of success.

The day, and indeed the conference, ended with a panel on trends and opportunities in infrastructure investments where insurers said they were approaching Solvency II reform both in the UK and Europe with “cautious optimism”.

A round up of day 1 is available here.
