Nick Malangone has joined J.P Morgan Asset Management as executive director and insurance portfolio manager in the multi-asset solutions team.

He left Goldman Sachs in December, where he held the position of insurance portfolio manager for more than five years, and was responsible for $15bn of fixed income assets managed on behalf of insurance companies.

Goldman Sachs told IAR that Malangone would not be replaced, as his responsibilities will be shared amongst the team.

Before that, Malangone served in the fixed income of Aviva Investors for nearly two years, after seven and a half years spent with the private wealth management team at Morgan Stanley.

J.P. Morgan's multi-asset solutions group oversees more than $170bn in assets globally. Malangone will be responsible for portfolios managed on behalf of insurance companies, and use his expertise in the industry's regulatory and accounting requirements.

"Nick's combination of technical and investment skills ensures we're able to offer insurance clients dynamic multi-asset solutions within the framework of the various regulatory and accounting regimes in which our insurance clients operate," said James Peagam, global head of insurance solutions.

J.P. Morgan told IAR that it manages $75.9bn in insurance assets globally, as of the end of September 2015.
