New Asian credit funds tailored for European insurers

BNP Paribas Investment Partners has launched two Asian fixed-income funds, which it says "are customised investment-grade solutions aimed at European insurance company investors seeking higher yield."

The funds – Flexi I Bond Asia investment grade and Flexi I Bond Asia investment grade plus – offer investors the opportunity to participate in Asian economic development via an active, fundamental approach, BNP Paribas Investment Partners said.

The two funds are within the BNP Paribas Flexi I UCITS IV Luxembourg SICAV.

The Asian fixed-income market is worth about $9bn and is now firmly established as a separate asset class, according to Adeline Ng, head of Asian fixed income at BNP Paribas Investment Partners. "Asian fixed income has evolved into a source of yield enhancement for insurance investors for whom solvency capital requirements are a key consideration," she noted.
