Sale of Tussauds to Taiwan insurer confirmed

Taiwanese insurer Fubon Life has paid £332.5m (€466m/$509m) for the freehold of the building in Marylebone, London, that houses the Madame Tussauds waxwork museum.

This confirms a report earlier this month that a deal was in the offing. The seller is Secure Income Reit; the building is leased to Merlin Entertainments (IAR, 6 May, Fubon Life makes offer for Tussauds)

There have been several purchases over the past year or so by Asian insurers, taking advantage of wider regulatory freedom to invest overseas (IAR, 6 May, Asian insurers step up European real estate investments).
