Standard Life Investments has appointed Aaron Kilberg as director, US business development, for the east coast based in New York City, reporting to Eric Roberts, head of US institutional sales.

Kilberg was previously at UBS Global Asset Management where he was an executive director for business development. His appointment follows the hiring in January of Peter Schmole in Los Angeles as west coast director of US business development.

Roberts said Kilberg's position is a new role at Standard Life Investments which provides multi-asset, equity, fixed income and real estate solutions for institutional investors. "We look forward to strengthening our presence in the New York and eastern United States market, said Jack Boyce, managing director, head of US distribution.

Kilberg's 25-year career, in addition to UBS, includes Aviva Investors, Kern Capital Management, TimesSquare Capital Management and Neuberger Berman for business development, plus Segal Advisors, Buck Consultants, and Bankers Trust Company as an institutional consultant.

Standard Life Investments, the global investment arm of Scotland-based Standard Life, has assets under management totaling $422bn, as of September 2014.
